The ending as it was was much better. A perfect loop.

Mackey sold out the remnants of the Strike Team, and, inadvertently, his family for a government job. He killed the "rat" on his team in the first episode. A rat whose payoff was a government job. As he walks off into the night you know he's not down and out. You saw him put up those pictures of an edited version of his existence, saw the anguish in his face as he saw police cars, sirens blaring, peel off into the night, knowing that world was closed to him forever.

Just a two-year contract, no family, and a shitload of enemies.

He should have just killed Shane two seasons prior.

If the prosecuter really is a douchebag they could take the statements made and pursue it that way.

It's possible this is being pursued because the insurance company is pushing, hard to say.

But keep in mind this guy could have his job jeapardized by this if it's pursued.
