If true, this would coincide with my theory that we have become obsessed with politically-correct Government, rather than a Government with a duty to the individual Citizen.
You know, Corporate America is not a good thing.
Screw it, this just gets me upset. I'm going to mow the lawn of my palatial shack.
It's actually one of his pet ideas, setting up a federal youth corp. A fair number of Republicans support it but it's not very popular with the Democrats.
Economists, tho, don't think FDR's work programs did much good, and may even of hurt by taking money from businesses that otherwise might have done this work.
And you should understand that the primary motivation behind the WPA was security, not economic development. The WPA was mainly a way of getting millions of homeless men out of the cities and into rural areas where they could be more easily controlled.
California has no money. It's a dead dog-and-pony show.
The way I understand these youth conservation corps programs, it's basically federal money, but the programs are administered by the states.
I think that's correct. But in CA it's more of an alternative to incarceration for kids. Not a bad plan, but no real budget, and the projects are minuscule.
* The California Conservation Corps is the largest program of its kind in the country. Created in 1976, it's modeled after the 1930s Civilian Conservation Corps.
* The CCC program matches up California's young people and its natural resources, benefiting both.
* Each year the CCC hires 3,300 corpsmembers between the ages of 18 and 25. They earn minimum wage, $8/hour.
* More than 100,000 young men and women have been a part of the CCC since 1976.
* The CCC is one of California's premier emergency response forces. In 2008, corpsmembers devoted more than a half-million hours to fire response, and also fought floods and pest infestations.
* The CCC has 27 locations throughout California to assist with natural resource work and emergency response.
* The CCC is a cost-effective labor force, working for more than 250 local, state and federal agencies each year. Crews tackle more than 900 projects and generate more than $26 million annually for the CCC.
* The Corps has provided more than 9.3 million hours of emergency response on nearly every major natural disaster since 1976. Crews can be dispatched within hours anywhere in the state.
* All corpsmembers advance their education in the CCC. In the last three years, more than 4,000 corpsmembers worked to complete their high school diplomas. The CCC also offers two different scholarships for use after the CCC.
That's a start, although limited to Federal projects, I believe. We need something that filters down to State and County levels. Just look around to see how decrepit your public areas are.
Recently OLG was made a social pariah. This means that every one of his posts was changed into one phrase. I believe this phrase was something like "I wont post gay porn".
The same thing happened to Moviewhore and some other poster (was it valerie solanas).
It was soon discovered that fucking MovieWhore registered my fucking name (sean findle.y) and trolled other posters, even myself.
Some of the things he said with this name were horrific.
He denies it to this day.
Who to believe?
Just saying.
Something is defective with Sean and ARSE's reasoning in matters of stalking and harassment. Let's all see if we can figure it out.
think of all the projects we could have done if we had used the 1 trillion "stimulus" money for our infrastructure instead of giving it to the blood sucking wall street mother fuckers.
Wouldn't this have made more sense in terms of self-preservation? Banks are sucking the very life out of the common man. Corporate America is the true enemy of Democracy as we knew it. What exists now is an absurd agenda of politically-correct, yet completely ineffective government. I am becoming ashamed to call myself an American.
Because the Republican plan is to outsource all our jobs, shut down the government and watch the rest of us all starve from the safety of their fenced compounds.
That is a defective statement.
We are under a Democrat President and Congress. Please try to keep up.
First off all, it is the Democratic Party, not the 'democrat' party. Using Faux News terminology makes you sound like a cletus, which you are.
Second of all, the government was broke when Bush was president. Giving power to Obama didn't change that.
Third, what the fuck is Obama doing differently? We are still bailing out banks and spending stupid money fighting in Iraq. Obongo is spending shitloads on the same thing Bush is plus a health insurance giveaway to the Health Care Industry. The government is still going bankrupt.
Ah yes. Bankrupt. Something that a moron like you who actually inherited money and still managed to bankrupt a photography business could relate to. Maybe you should go work for the government. Oh wait. I think you did and got fired there too.
What a fucking loser you are James Marks.
Attacking dots are gutless cowards, so I shall ignore your rant, as any intelligent person would do.
Because the Republican plan is to outsource all our jobs, shut down the government and watch the rest of us all starve from the safety of their fenced compounds.
That is a defective statement.

There are all sorts of practical reasons why this might not be enacted, but there is the REAL reason:
The National Recovery Act that enabled programs like the CCC and the WPA was an EMERGENCY measure. Now with everything going SO GREAT right now in America (just read the newspaper, everything is fine, all declines are "unexpected"), why would we need such emergency legislation?
Mustn't panic the sheep.
If that is indeed the truth, the cynical reasoning behind it defies the spirit that America was built on. My feeling is that he doesn't want to raise the taxes that would fund such an undertaking, even though this would fund Americans in America building their own infrastructure. Seems like a win-win-win to me.
Of course, we would have to stop fighting and spending billions on the other side of the world to allow this to happen. Too many young people wasting their lives there.
The works built during the Great Depression are all in need of repair or replacement. Would this not be the opportune time to undertake such important legislation?
