m said:Again, those are all going after the brown people. Can't you fucking read?

You can't find a single example of a big right-wing heavily publicized grassroots effort to either reform egregiously exploitative legislation like these farm labor laws, or more tightly regulate the hiring practices of all employers. No, you get far more votes bashing brown people.

I know you're not a dumb man.

I'm guessing you know then that the first sentence of your post just proved the point I was making, right?

m said:My love of mexicans is completely divorced from the fact that business-friendly legislators have created an environment that allows (indeed, almost requires) illegal immigrants to work on farms. The migrants themselves are simply filling a need, while attempting to better themselves. Complaining about brown people while ignoring the laws favoring the white people who exploit them is hypocrisy of the foulest kind.

The problem is that if you complain about the laws, or, god forbid, acutally try to DO SOMETHING about changing them - you are IMMEDIATELY outed as a 'racist'. For examples, see prop 187 or Arizona's new immigration laws.

You can't win, Mitch. Even if you ARE JUST TRYING TO CHANGE LEGISLATION THAT IS BROKEN, YOU WILL BE TORN APART BY THE MEDIA AND EVERY SPECIAL INTEREST GROUP ACROSS THE COUNTRY.

The fear of being labeled as a 'racist' and having you political career destroyed FOREVER keeps this status quo in check. And it can't end unless some folks with REAL BALL show up on the scene.

This whole situation is a travesty.

The government allows these fucks to bypass all labor laws for any other industry in America, turning the jobs they offer into 'illegal only' gigs.

Then they ALSO hand them huge amounts of $$$ in subsidies and other forms of white collar welfare.

Sickening.

The shitty areas of CA (i.e. areas already priced in the $100K range for homes) will be steady, may see small (1-2%) growth.

All other areas with any substantial home prices will be SLAUGHTERED in 2010, 2011, and 2012... hitting rock bottom by 2013.

I'm talking another 40-60% haircut from CURRENT PRICES.

Have a nice day.

This will HELP millions of Americans get the health care they need and LOWER the deficit.

The GOP LIE when they say it will increase costs since health reform WILL LOWER THE DEFICIT BY 130 BILLIN OVER 10 YEARS!!

http://www.csmonitor.com/USA/Politics/2010/0318/Healthcare-reform-would-lower-deficit-by-130-billion-over-10-years

Did you read it?

That estimate assumes %600 BILLION in cuts from MEDICARE to fund it.

FUTURE CUTS.

THAT. WILL. NEVER. HAPPEN.

You understand, right?

This makes no sense.

In CA, of all places, there are a bazillion community colleges under $50/credit. Most have all sorts of different assistance programs as well that can drop that to under $10/credit or FREE. If you take the right classes you can get 2 years of fully transferable credits for under $5,000, in addition to an associates degree.

Then transfer to a cheap uni, finish out the next 2 years and get your bachelors....

A calorie is a calorie.

Balance between carbs/protein/fats is important. Balance. But that has to do with HEALTH rather than thinness.

But the bottom line is that if your body uses 2000 calories to function/day, and you eat 2500, you will gain weight.

Similarly, if you eat 1500 and your body requires 2000 to function, you will lose weight. Regardless of where the calories come from.

ExtraStout said:Cool, will I be able to buy tactical nuclear weapons once the ban is removed?

Nah, cause tac nukes aren't a firearm.

Also, the main components (nuclear material) is a very, very difficult to produce item (weapons grade material) that you couldn't manufacture yourself, and is lethal.

This is a very weak argument, telling of your small liberal brain.

Most Chinese politicians are highly educated scientists/engineers/doctors.

Most American politicians are lawyers/business majors.

Who do you think is going to be running shit 10 years from now. 20? Is this even a question.

Americans are fucking retarded.

They are upset because:

1. They have families, obligations, bills to pay, people to take care of

2. They know the job market is horrendous right now, and their chances of finding a new job are slim

3. They are comfortable with their current job, the stress of the 'new' is scary for many people

Just FYI - Car insurance is not required at the federal level, and many states have NO REQUIREMENT that you carry car insurance - NONE.

In addition, NO STATE requires car insurance for vehicles that are NOT DRIVEN ON PUBLIC ROADS - not even the states with insurance requirements for vehicles driven on public roads.

. said:And why is that?

Ok, I'll bite.

Let's say the House introduced a bill forcing everyone in America to buy jello from the jello makers (private companies). You MUST buy this jello if you live in the US - under PENALTY OF IMPRISIONMENT/FINES which will be enforced by the IRS. You have to buy this jello every month, and jello costs different amounts for different people - but is pretty expensive!

The house passes this bill. It goes to the Senate.

The Senate passes the bill.

The President signs it into law.

Now, if you are a living being in the US, you are now FORCED by the fact that you are ALIVE to pay for jello EVERY MONTH, FOREVER, UNTIL YOU DIE. It equates to a TAX ON LIVING, right? And worse yet - it is a tax you are PAYING TO A PRIVATE, FOR-PROFIT COMPANY.

That is 100% unconstitutional.

Now, replace the word 'jello' with 'health insurance' and you'll see why this bill is 169% D-E-A-D before it's even signed.

Political mindset != The Law

Let the leftists froth about it. The SCOTUS will be forced to strike this abomination down. Not even spicomeyer will be able to defend it.

The end.

This bill will be found unconstituional and immediately made invalid. There are armies of lawyers standing by to put this dead horse in the grinder the second it's signed into law.

Why get bent out of shape about a bill that's dead before it's voted on?
