When my Dad died back in '05 I've had next to no contact with his side of the family.

My mother's side is all fucked up, due to their scumbag parents - thankfully dead now. I'm in intermittent touch with my uncle in Alloa. But Clacks is a small area, and my mother hated it there - she grew up in Kilsyth - before her mother banished her at 15 and she ended up in London at 17. She's been in London 31 years now but still has her accent.

For me its horrible, as I've been born and raised an only child in exile away from all my family. Never feeling English or Scottish.

So, the air raids that destroyed German and Japanese cites and killed literally millions of CIVILIANS in the last months of the war were not to win the war and save Allies troops lives, in fact it was just pure insanity by the generals to purposely try to kill as many civilians as they possible can.

The total destruction of Dresden didn't happen at the peak of German power, it was in the near defeat of Germany, Hitler was in the bunker being bombed night and day, there were no troops waiting to counter attack from Dresden, were there? They were beaten down refuges trying to find a safe place until the war was over, until the Allied air raids destroyed the city, and many many other cities in endless raids that lasted until the final surrender.
