Look guys, they weren't worried about the victim suing, they were worried about the families of the firemen or cops suing. It's very difficult to rescue a drowning person. Without factories there are no capitalists or workers. And every economic theory we have is based on capitalists employing workers.
I have a job now, but I've always been freelance as well. I know people in my niche that are getting good work in their 60s.
Jobs have become a dead end for most people. You hit middle age and they fire you and hire someone younger and cheaper. Or foreign.
Essentially, the old capitalist system of capitalist and labor is disappearing, and being replaced with the third world system of hustling for work and money.
The problem is most of our peers bought into the old system. They don't know how to hustle for work, like that lady mentioned in the OP. If I was needing work like she does I'd be cold calling companies looking for it. Not a job, but just any kind of work. If someone was looking for a computer services company, I'd be there the next day with business cards and a spiel.
