Notice how the whole thing with his commander coming back and ordering him to give up was just a way he could get away with murder. I would bet things got hot for him after he hacked that man to death.

Yea, right. Don't you think that after 30 years of raping and killing Filipino villagers one of them, before being killed, would have told him the war was over?
It's bullshit. He did something he thought would get him court-martialed, went AWOL, and is now trying to avoid being convicted for 29 years of murder and rape.
Well, I'm not looking for a "stamp of approval". And a good editor will make the author change his plot, his characters, even how the novel ends. I can't see an egotistical author paying for that.
Well, that's what I thought. Amazon pushes these self-published books a lot, and I've been reading them on my kindle. You start to miss the fact that the self-published books are not professionally edited.
