Unless you find a hermit, you ain't gonna be able to land a 20-something today without at least knowing a little something about the whole skrillex/bassnectar blah blah stuff. Yes there are subgenres, but none of the women I have met care about the details. They're just impressed when I talk about who I saw at Ibiza this past summer.
Previous poster was correct; the whole techno whatever scene has been huge in Europe forever. Seems like the trends start there, come to the States in a more diluted form, and then pass to Asia. 2 years from now all of the current US stuff will have faded, and some new recycled copycat stuff from Europe will take its place. Who cares, it's simply something that can be used as a commonality when striking up conversation with the younger set.

This is bullshit. Very, very, very few personal trainers make more than $20K/yr. They have to end up selling supplements, sitting in a booth at trade shows, etc etc to crack anything near $30K. Even the larger gyms such as 24 Hour Fitness, Bally's, and Spectrum start their trainers out at $15/hr. And those trainers probably only have enough clients for 15 hours per week.

The problem is, a vicious cycle has been started that nobody will be able to stop.
Today, every Tom, Dick, and Mary has a college degree. I mean, every Gen Y is going to college -somewhere-. Looking around, the only people w/o college degrees today are the jackasses, losers, and complete fucktards. So most companies now include "4 Year Degree" as a base requirement, as a simple way of filtering out the jackasses, losers, and complete fucktards. As a result, a 4 year degree has become a screening element for every. single. job. A buddy of mine has a son who applied for a 'management potential track' job at STARBUCKS, and they required a 4 year degree. Starbucks?
I have to admit that I am helping perpuate this. When I meet a mid-to-late 20 something or 30-something who claims to not have been to college, that person is usually out of work, lazy, or has that 'dull' look to them. I'm sure they sit around and blast resumes out all day; I simply don't want to hear from them. So even when my teams hire, they use the 4 Year Degree filter.
It is what it is. Either play the game, or drop out and blame it on the jews, africans, obamacare, the guy from IMF raping the maid, etc.
I have to admit. Every (EVERY) guy I either know or have heard of who has a foreign bride (i.e., one met overseas or as one of the mail-order programs) is a complete, useless beta. The guys on the show are pretty much exactly the demographic. Old, fat/obese, "odd", bald, middling-to-average intelligence, beta. They would never show an 'alpha' on that show who does the same thing, because I don't think there are any. I mean seriously, if you are a good looking, in shape, educated, at least reasonably affluent (or at least solvent!), guy with a hint of personality, of almost any age in the States... Why would you have to be scouring sites for women from the Ukraine?

Both of these women are somewhat different. This 'secbarbie' woman at least comes across as highly intelligent. (Cue the "No but I'm smarter than her, she only does security for Mac platforms, etc etc" ). All of that b.s. aside, she seems fairly put together professionally. Physically, however: I don't think I'd give her a second glance (or even a first) on the street. I don't find her attractive, and I'm not into the 'pleasingly plump' mid-30s. She probably wouldn't find me attractive either. Doesn't matter.
The second woman: She's a mess. A self-described slob. Stocky build. Has apparently been with a fair share of guys. I can't easily discern what she'd have to offer. I am in the mid-30s range (which I guess is the age she would consider 'creepy') but would never date anyone her age, or anyone of her 'type'. (Self-absorbed, immature, sloppy, materialistic, borderline alcoholic.) Any guy who decides to make a lifetime commitment to her will be in for a LOT of work.
Secbarbie: I probably can't begrudge her anything. She has her schtick, and it is working. (And no, I don't want to get laid by her.)
Career Girl: She will be posting to her same blog, lashing out at the world from her Throne Of Selfishness and Immaturity, surrounded by cats, single and childless, when she is 40.

I knew so many women like her, 10 years ago when I was in my mid-20s. Women who were holding out for the guy with a "European car and a subzero refrigerator". Now those women are in their mid to late 30s, still single, not even dating. Becoming angrier and more jaded and more judgmental by the minute.
Fuck 'em. They made their decisions and locked themselves into a mindset years ago that will ensure they'll miss out on the engagement, marriage, and parenthood trains that women lust after. If you can afford to live out here, and the right way, there are very few places that are better. (The right way = nice, low-crime, high-income part of town). Santa Monica (North of Montana), Palisades, even Palos Los Verdes are some of the nicest neighborhoods I've ever seen or lived in.
Yes, if your experience w/ SoCal was back when you lived in Culver City or Huntington Park, then I agree it was Hell. Gotta do it A.W.O.L. style, or not at all. (Anywhere West Of Lincoln). But good luck finding a good home in these parts for less than $1.5M or a rent that is less than $4K/month.
And as for the beaners & africans: Stop obsessing over them. They are easily avoidable.

If you opt to follow my recommendation of "Do. Never. Marry.", you'll need to be Ok with being seen as a beta/trev/loser/shut-in/etc after the age of 40 or so. People will think you are odd, gay, a social misfit, etc. That's Ok; for the most part, the people who think that are trapped in evil, dead-end, soul-sucking relationships. Take it in stride, text your 25 year old girlfriend with the tight little body, and go travel somewhere.
Take it from someone who was in a fail of a marriage up until about 6 years ago: You aren't missing anything. Don't worry about this other bullshit. Just Do Never.
Meh. $250K is a solid wage for any single guy, anywhere in the US. Sure, you won't be able to live the life of ferraris and supermodels (unless you live in like, Utah or something), but it is very solid. And it's in the top 5% of all salaries, so you'll make more than 'just about everyone else'. Don't listen to the tards here (most of whom are unemployed or simply useless). Consider yourself lucky.
Trust me: If you aren't in executive or super-senior management, and you're big bargaining chip is the fact that you know FoxPro, the company will be fine without you.
