I guess he must have done it on Friday, since he was not at work. Maybe even Thursday night. Did not think anything of it that he was not here. Body was found around noon today after his family, I think his parents, requested a welfare check on him by the police. He was only 29.
He was an accountant. In Texas. I knew him but never did anything with him outside of work. There were not any looming layoffs or anything. Work has been solid. We don't have bullshit office politics that I know of either. I asked the lady who called me about it, if it could have been an accidental overdose. She said no, that he took his own life. She did not elaborate.
I might have to go to work tonight to get into his stuff, if I can find an IT person. Going to have to do a forensic audit on everything he touched in the last year, send letters to clients, etc.
Lady said he lived in an apartment. Maybe it was woman trouble. I hope. I hope it was not money because he had access to alot of important shit anc could move money around if he wanted.
Basically. The IT guys went ahead and locked out all his email and accounts. They also made a copy of his hard drive. The IT guys can do this from their homes which is pretty cool. So...I did not have to go in to work tonight. Whew. Now we can take our time looking at everything. I dont expect a surprise, since most of what he did involved other people in the office too.
Just like in the Army, probably should get one of his immediate buddies to sanitize his work area before any friends or family come pick up his shit.
