Porn in the USA: Conservatives are biggest consumers
27 February 2009 by Ewen Callaway
A new nationwide study of anonymised credit-card receipts from a major online adult entertainment provider finds states that consume the most porn tend to be more conservative and religious than states with lower levels of consumption, says Benjamin Edelman at Harvard Business School.
"Some of the people who are most outraged turn out to be consumers of the very things they claimed to be outraged by," Edelman says.
The adult entertainment company provided Edelman with roughly two years of credit card data from 2006 to 2008 that included a purchase date and each customer's postal code.
The biggest consumer, Utah, averaged 5.47 adult content subscriptions per 1000 home broadband users.
Eight of the top 10 pornography consuming states gave their electoral votes to John McCain in last year's presidential election.
Residents of 27 states that passed laws banning gay marriages had 11% more porn subscribers than states that don't explicitly restrict gay marriage.
States where a majority of residents agreed with the statement "I have old-fashioned values about family and marriage," bought 3.6% more subscriptions than states where a majority disagreed.

Nice to see their hijacking of somebody else's intellectual property is grounds for them to sue torrenters.
It would be interesting if there was a defence put up that the parody provisions should clearly not be in effect here, seeing as this works' primary purpose is for sexual arousal rather than comedic comment.

Speaking of porn parodies has anyone seen the Star Trek: The Next Generation one? It's shocking in how much respect the pornographer has for the canon (far more than the fucks who made Enterprise)

only conservatives are dumb enough to pay for porn

It's like everything else with the pondscum that comprise the porn industry. They want all the freedom in the world to sleaze their way to profits, but pretend to occupy some moral high ground when it comes to this issue.
Nevermind that their money is made on the backs of psychologically damaged women and an ever increasing debasement of sexuality. No, filesharing is beyond the pale to these people.

Fuck em.
The mystery of the nude woman has mostly vanished away. I can't see how pornographers can still make money I. This age of freely available porn at xhamster, youporn and even Unfiltered google images.

So just saying something is parody makes it protected speech?
