It's a no win situation.

Just let him do what he wants.

Then he'll get held back, and be back with his old classmates, just as smart as before, but with the difference that he will have learned to run with a much more mature and cool crowd of kids than his old nerd buddies.

Other than the fact that the kid's interactions with delinquents will be limited to handing them his lunch money, nice plan.

If he's really a smart kid, he can make meth to sell to them. That way he will be in charge financially AND socially.

Don't skip grades, but let him take classes at a community college during jr high school and high school.

If your kid goes to a sports crazed school I wouldn't do it. But if academics are respected then maybe put him one grade ahead.

Otherwise I would get a tutor, or if you have a uni near by see if he can enroll in the subjects where he excels. My cousin is a genius, he looks like Wes Anderson, with short hair. They advanced him a grade, he did the college thing and he did fine.

Google McGraw Hill's "ALEKS" program. He can do college classes online, that are regionally accredited through ACE.

Something around 1200 higher Ed schools are in the credit acceptance program.
