The f-35 is supposed to be able to take this role. Of course, if we lose any of them the brass will immediately pull them from that role because they are so fucking expensive.

Plenty of people want the F-35. The question is how much the thing will cost.

The IAF, for example, is itching to get its hands on one, but not if it will cost as much as 10 f-16's.`

The IAF is getting 20 F-35 for free.

The AF tried to get rid of the A10s before, but when the army said they would go back on the key West agreement and start deploying them the AF backed off.

not only that they are demanding the source code for the avionics so they roll their own versions....they truly are a parasite on America

the AF seems to be trying to make itself irrelevant.

Maybe it would make sense to eliminate it and divide the responsibilities between the Army and the Navy

Marines were able to keep their own ground support aircraft.

Much more effective.
