Any former pet owners reach a point where they really dislike having them?

:anon:

I don't understand the about-face. I feel like I'm waiting for them to die.

Current pet owner here. Every night I pray for their imminent demise. Every day I awake disappointed. After these die, never again.

I love my pet dearly and she is very old, I don't want her to pass. I look forward to seeing her every day.

However, I do know animals that if I owned them I can fully understand your feelings.

Everything about them is grossing me out. The hair, the smells, the sounds, the breathing, the food. I'm doing my duty and taking care of them but damn.

You are allowed to just take themb to a vet and have them killed. You don't need a reason like you would with your grandmother.

Never. I wish my pet could come back from the grave. I wish cats and dogs could live much longer. They're better than most people.

They need to at least be sick or incontinent first. Tick tock.

No they don't -- i kept an insufferable cat for years under that impression. Finally I took it to a vet and all she cared about was if my credit card swiped.

I used to love these creatures so much. Now I long to be free of them someday. I don't want them to suffer though, it isn't their fault I've changed.

I used to think people without house pets were snobs and missing out - now I understand :sadbanana:

I think about putting them in a boarding kennel for a week vacation from them once in a while.

Why don't you just list them up for adoption? Tell people you're moving or something and can't take the dog with you.

I have begun to resent my cat and dog since the baby arrived last year. They just seem like giant pains in the ass since they are not getting as much attention.

I just had to send my dog away because I'm moving to an apartment.

Bingo. Let me guess, they were your babies before you had a kid?

2 cats and one (very small annoying) dog. Cats are 14 and 15 years old, dog is 9. All in surprisingly good health.
