Should I be wondering why he's single at that age? Usually men are married off a bit before then. Seems normal though, and sweet.

That's what I suspect. Definitely don't want to ask, not really wanting to broach the subject of past relationships either. I'm a little wary, but maybe I don't need to be.

I'm 39, single, never been married. I assume everyone secretly thinks I'm either gay or fucked in the head.
On the flip side, I've been banging hotties from match.com for a couple of years while my friends shuttle their kids to ballet classes. Also, their wives are nearing or at 40, while I've been dating and will ended up marrying a chick five to ten years younger.
completely true. Took me a long time to get good at dating, but now I'm really really good at it. I've banged chicks that ten years ago I wouldnt have even approached.

The guy is a lot older than I am, so I feel like maybe he might not disclose some stuff to me because he thinks I'm immature. But still, that we're fooling around tells me that he doesn't have a problem with hookups/whatever, which then makes me wonder whether he's a bit of a player. He's a professional though, and quite careful about maintaining his image.

If you are in big cities ie NY, LA, Boston, Chicago etc. completely normal. If not in a big city or in the south, Midwest, mountain areas, alarm bell strange.
