For example, a nuclear device detonates in New York and al qaeda (yeah I know it doesnt exist) claims responsibility. George Bush, in a fit of pique, orders a nuclear strike on Mecca and Medina and then withdraws all the might of the American military machine to American shores, giving taiwan a few nukes on the way just for the hell of it.

Fact is, America is the best country in the world. Anybody who's anybody has moved to America, and they gave it their all. It shows. The whole world wants to move to America, and people who are the best at what they do end up here. Everyone has taken out loans, this is why the world economy is in a slump. The American housing market is just a small piece.

The USA would be turned into a radioactive wasteland, most likely - it's possible that everyone would wait to find out where the missiles were aimed, but it's much more likely that at least someone wouldn't.
Even if you got lucky, and nobody twitched, the USA is now in a position where it is neither capable of feeding itself, or meeting it's own energy needs - so there would be an extremely painful adjustment period.

That's not how you become isolationist. You become isolationist through exhaustion. Who dragged the US into World War II? After the war, there was palpable hatred toward Britain. This can be seen in Henry Wallace's speeches, and in general US policy. Even the Wall Street Journal (now a neo-con mouthpiece) wrote a scathing article on Churchill's 'Iron Curtain' speech. The same will hold after this round of wars. We'll manage to withdraw from the bloodsuckers who currently hold the reins on our foreign policy.
And we most certainly can fill our needs. It's our wants that consume so much. However, entitled fucksticks like you could never tell the difference. Please kill yourself and fuck the body. Do your part for the greater good.
i mean unless u like getting richer or poorer. no one wants to help out the fellow man it seems. Y must we rely on a government, we are civilized enough to sustain ourselves. A revolution is due...

1. North Korea would go to war with South Korea and lose.
2. The middle east would collapse upon itself, with wide-spread civil war along Sunni/Shia lines. None of them would come near Israel, as they'd be too busy fighting each other.
3. Pakistan would fall to the Taliban/Islamofascists. Nuclear war with India would soon follow.
4. Mexico would fall to drug cartels, war would break out across the rest of South America (Columbia v. Venezuela, etc.)
5. Western Europe would BEG the US to save them from the rapidly collapsing world around them
6. Japan, Taiwan, China, NZ, Australia would be realtively peacful
7. Russia would wage war with its satelite neighbors.
8. The US economy would enter a second depression, leading to increased racial tensions, particularly among Latinos (illegals) and everyone else. Possible civil war between red and blue states.
Generally, a shit-storm, but after about 25 years, the world that would arise from the ashes would be much more peaceful, as most of the crazies would end up killing each other.

You have had too many concussions and your brain is not working right. I just want to reach through the intertubes and hit your head until your brain turns inside your thick skull and faces the correct direction.
It is an unnatural artificial adjustment - a never ending celebration of mediocrity. When a person of second-rate ability or value realizes that he has somehow got access to immense power that he does not deseve, and probably will never get it again on his own if he loses it this time, he will refuse to share it with other losers like him and will viciously try to purge anyone who comes in his way even on the basis of baseless doubt (the story of Stalin and all other red monsters).
1. Israel would obliterate Palestine, sending hordes towards Egypt, who would close their boards and probably end up slaughtering the Palestinians as well
2. Possible conventional war between the US and Russia over resources in the Arctic.
3. China would face massive uprisings all over its territories after the collapse of its economy. China would execute tens of millions in an effort to quell the insurgency.
